Barbara Currie's Power of Yoga makes some powerful claims. Promising you "the best body shape ever" Barbara assures the viewer the video will teach you how to "re-charge and re-energise your entire body in just 10 easy minutes a day".

The video itself consists of four self-contained sections based on Hatha yoga techniques that can be done individually if you're short on time or all at once for a longer workout. First up is the 10-minute "tone-up" which you should aim to do daily. Once you get used to this try and do the second 10-minute "power workout" for a more advanced stretch. Section 3 is "power toning" which places particular emphasis on arms, bums, tums and thighs. And finally, section 4 brings you "power stretching" aimed at relieving tension.

At the start of each exercise Barbara outlines the muscles that each exercise is working and the benefits you will receive--and her glowing good health should be evidence enough for even the most sceptical viewer.

All four sections show versions of each exercise for both the beginner and those with previous experience. But although aimed at all levels, Power of Yoga will be of particular interest to beginners. No previous knowledge is assumed and with the easy-to-follow sequences and strong emphasis on working at your own pace, Barbara's soothing voice will encourage even the most hesitant beginner. --Anna Freeman

I have worked through the 10 minute miracle at the beginning of this tape so many times that I have worn it out! It is a really good toning routine that can be used on a daily basis and fitted in to a really busy day. It made me feel very relaxed and 'loosened up'. I recommend this. I only wish it was available in DVD then it wouldn't wear out!

I bought this video a while back as I'm not very good at attending classes/gym etc and I wanted something to help me exercise at home. It is great - Barbara Currie is very enthusiastic and makes it very straightforward and easy to follow. I also like the fact that she's spilt all the exercises into extremely manageable 10 minute slots. Even just doing the ten-minute tone up every day leaves you feeling good. When i first bought this video i had no idea about yoga and watched it through tried a few exercises and got in such a muddle i gave up and it sat on my shelf for a year. HOWEVER a year later on a whim i decided to give it another go and realised that if you persevere with the program it does help you to become more flexible and helps with toning and losing weight. This was the first yoga video I bought and despite buying other videos since, that I thought would be more advanced, I keep returning to this one. It starts gently for beginners and goes on to moves that you think you will never be able to do, but within a few weeks, there you are doing them!
It contains plenty of different moves, rather than 6 versions of the same position.
Even though Barbara is rather patronising and does repeat little sayings all the time, the basics are very good.

as an absolute beginner this was the first yoga programm I tried. I love it and I am using it almost every day. After two weeks of exercising people now ask me: hey, are you losing weight? But that's not the only aim I was after. After 10 years of spending most of my time in a wheelchair I am now able to stand on my feet again and trying to regain a bit of my old strength.
