Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - enjoyable six-parter, the one with the giant maggots!
CLASSIC Who, nice Jon Pertwee story with a Welsh mining community and countryside crawling with giant maggots that make you wither and die if they touch you. Has a bit with a nice, funny disguise for Pertwee. This story is the departure of companion Jo Grant, who falls in love!
And the Doctor whizzes around in his car "Bessie" again.
Worthwile!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - In memory of the late great Jon Pertwee
I saw this episode a long time ago but only recently acquired it for a second viewing, and boy, did it affect me. The story isn't up with the best (such as Pertwee's previous Silurians or Sea Devils) but it has its moments. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - GIANT MAGGOTS!
This is a classic Jon pertwee story (3rd Dr).Set in 1973 it concerns a welsh mining village, miners dying from a mysterious green glowing substance, and giant killer maggots made out of fox's skulls and condoms!
The finale is quite sentimental to any fan of the show as his beautiful blonde bombshell companion Jo Grant leaves him to marry a student professor! A version of the doctor, only younger.
This series also features the doctors car 'Bessie'.
9/10!

With miners flaring phosphorescent green before dying violently, the Doc + UNIT are called to South Wales. Venturing into the long-forgotten mine shaft, the Doc discovers a festering army of Giant Maggots waiting to be unleashed upon the World...

With moralistic overtones, a great script, a revolting monster in the Maggots and a complex villain in Stevens, The Green Death simply cannot fail. There are some nice characters in the hippies (alongside some walking Welsh cliches) and some great ... Read More
